hello ruby xx nobody lives on the island anymore, i don't think anyone even holidays there now. it's such a shame! all those beautiful baches are all boarded up so that you can't even look in the windows, except for one that has been restored by the Rangitoto Trust (i took a photo through it's window.) from what i could gather there used to be about 150 people who would regularly summer on the island in the 20's and 30's - and there were many more baches that have been torn down now. there used to be big parties, and a public pool and a tearooms and a campground...but now the place is pretty much deserted. it has this amazing feeling of being sort of stuck in time...

Love these! I haven't been to rangitoto in years, but I remember that exact feeling x
